"From a 70+yo plot within the original Ingoldby holdings. The oak, French (95%) and American. All up, 25% new. Mulberry and black cherry, with firm varietal genetics of nori, tapenade and pepper-doused acidity. A large-framed wine, albeit relatively light on its feet with ample freshness and finely tuned tannins – coffee bean and mocha-drenched. Pushes long on the force of extract alone."

Tasting Notes

Our single vineyard Inc Shiraz is crafted from the 70 year old vines at our home on the Ingoldby vineyard to produce this classic McLaren Vale Shiraz of immense character and intensity. It is blended from a selection of only the finest barrels from our McLaren Flat vineyard. The incredibly consistent fruit with sound concentration is supported by open fermentation with extended skin contact. The dark fruit spectrum is supported seamlessly by maturation in French and American oak (25% new) for an 18 month period.

The depth of colour alludes to the overall intensity and pedigree of this Shiraz. On the nose there is spice and a rich dark fruit purity with a lashing of toasty oak influence. Intense blackberry and dark cherry fruit flavour dominate the mid palate with a hint of white pepper and spice. The complexing oak influence melds elegantly with the wines dark fruit and dark chocolate concentration. Beautifully balanced with tremendous length of flavour, this Shiraz speaks of the provenance of the old vines at the Ingoldby Vineyard.
